August 24, 2020
It was such a pleasure to see your students this week. Teachers taught students how to use the technology tools, along with making connections with them. A few things to remember: First, class starts at 9:00 for our TK – 6th grade students. Also, grades and report cards will be given during virtual learning. Finally, attendance will be taken and reported into the District system. Beginning tomorrow, Monday, August 24th, students will begin learning through their grade level curriculum.
Students will also begin the iReady diagnostic assessment through September 11. It will be important to have a distraction free place to take the test. The test is designed for all students to miss questions so that we know what they are capable of doing and what they need to be taught. Please allow your child to take the test without assistance on answering the questions.
On school days, Lawless is providing free breakfast and lunch for pick up in the back corner of the big parking lot from 7:00 – 9:00 each morning. It is a drive through or walk up service.
If you have completed the opening day packet with the emergency card, you can turn those papers into a box in the office between 7:30 and 4:00 on school days or during breakfast pick up.
On Tuesday, August 25th at 5:30, we will hold a Lawless Virtual Town hall meeting that will focus on using the Parent Portal. This tool will allow you to update your address and phone and check on your children’s assignments and grades. The meeting link is already posted on our Lawless Website. You can find our website at www.fresnounified.org/schools/lawless. You can email questions to firstname.lastname@example.org
If your child needs a technology device for distance learning, please call (559) 457 – 3939. Or, go to the Fresno Unified website. On the large picture carousel, there is a picture with a question box that asks, “Need a device or hot spot?” You can click on the box and sign up electronically. This seems to be a quicker way.
For more communications, you can follow us on Facebook @Lawless elementary, or on Instagram at Toby Lawless School, or continue to check Peachjar located on our Lawless website.
Thank you for your grace as we continue to learn this distance learning process together. Please continue to work with the classroom teacher or call our office for assistance, (559) 451-4520.
