Week of August 16, 2020.
Greetings Edison Families, this is Principal Munoz with lots of information
Welcome to the 2020-21 new school year. You should have received a school mailer last week with important information. You can find the summer mailer on our school website under the parent tab for your reference at https://www.fresnou.org/schools/edison.
Lots of school information is being provided to families and can be overwhelming. We understand and will do our best to provide the most relevant information. Having said this, students will receive communication every Monday from their teachers about assignment expectations on a weekly basis, a week at a glance if you will. Teachers will also have time twice a week to make connections with students during the morning time of 8-9 am. Students will receive more details from their teachers in class about the weekly communication process.
Parents due to COVID-19's impact on the school system things will be quite different, however, I can be reached by email and you can call the Tiger Care Hotline at 457-2650 with any questions or concerns.
ATLAS Staff Portal has several new tutorials to help staff navigate our various ATLAS resources, including recently launched ATLAS Connect. The ATLAS Team added a similar link for parents providing helping tips and tutorials on our ATLAS Parent Portal sign in page. Once on the link, there is a translation pulldown key that allows parents to review instruction in either English, Spanish, or Hmong. Parents will find helpful information including how to find your login information, updating your emergency contact details, and creating a personal account. Communication is more important now than ever. All pertinent school information will be communicated through our School Messenger system, so it is important that your contact information is accurate in ATLAS.
Edison will have daily meal distribution. Grab and go meal distribution occur every day from 7am-9am in the morning. Breakfast and lunch are provided at the same time to students.
Any time people are on campus strict health and safety protocols will be enforced. The health and safety of students and families are the number one priority right now.
Please understand that initially, Distance learning will be a bit messy, but rest assured that we will problem-solve and work out the issues and I am confident we'll eventually settle into this new way of learning.
The textbook distribution was adjusted to meet the needs of our students. Here's the schedule
Students are expected to attend grade level orientations on Monday and Tuesday
The school bell schedule was sent to you in the school mailer and is posted on the website.
Class begins every day at 9 am sharp.
Students, this year more then ever your organizational skills will be put to the test. You must treat this school year as if it was in-person school. Establish a routine, find a space to learn, and take ownership of your learning. Make sure you attend every day you cannot afford to miss days especially that we are on a block schedule. Trust your teachers and reach out to them with any questions.
I am also here for you. Do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any problems. Remember students, if you have a problem I have a problem.
Remember we are “One tiger many stripes"
Mr. Jose L. Munoz
