Open Before School, During Lunch, and After School

  What We Can Do for You

Provide you and help you find:

      •  books, e-books, articles, and reference materials, both online and print, for school assignments, reports, and research papers.
      •  help you find books, magazines and other resources for recreational reading and enjoyment.
    •  access to computers for school projects and assignments.
  •  instruction on searching the Internet, databases, library catalog, as well as computer applications such as Word and PowerPoint.
  •  assistance throughout the research process.
  •   a place to read study and complete assignments; a place that is open before school, during lunch and after school until 5:00 pm Monday-Friday.

What You Can Do For Us

  Follow the Gaston Library rules:
            • Have a current student ID  for check-out
            • Work on homework, reading, research and/or browsing.
          • Be respectful. No running, jumping over furniture or sitting on top of tables.
        • Voice levels 0-2 only!
      • No hats, hoods, or sunglasses
    • No food or drink
  • Use of computers is for educational purposes (educational game sites only during lunch and after school).
  • If visiting library during class be prepared to show a pass from your teacher.


  •  ALL school rules apply in the Library!


Visiting the Library During Class?

You must have a pass from your teacher.  No more than 4 students at a time.

Mission and Goals

  • The mission of the library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.
  • by providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats
  • by providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas
  • by working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students.

 BOOKS are checked out for TWO WEEKS.  If you need more time; you may renew a book twice. you may check out four(4) books at a time.

*E-BOOKS are available for reading on a computer, tablet and smartphone. To access e-books, when prompted, enter your username and password.

TEXTBOOKS check out for the entire school year and are due back the last three weeks of school.

CLASS NOVELS  When available they check out for 90 days.

COMPUTERS, TABLETS & E-READERS May be checked to use in Library or classroom depending on need.

MAGAZINES may be checked out overnight or over the weekend.  Magazines may be renewed once. You may check out two at a time.


Print only what you need; if items not printing see the librarian for assistance.  Do not click on the print icon repeatedly.
