Police Mentoring press event.jpgFresno Unified and the Fresno Police Department have launched a brand new mentoring program that pairs fourteen officers from the Southwest District with identified students at Columbia, Jefferson, King, Kirk, Lincoln, Lowell, Addams and Sunset elementary schools.  Two of the fourteen officers will meet with students at their designated schools once a week in alignment with the district's mentoring curriculum.

"I'm thankful for our partnership with the Fresno Police Department.  The officers in the Southwest District are providing an additional positive role model to our students and that goes a long way towards pushing them towards a successful future," said Superintendent Bob Nelson.

"We are committed to helping and serving others in our community and being an example for others to follow and this first-ever mentoring partnership with Fresno Unified makes that possible.  Our officers in the Southwest District are engaging our youth like never before and this partnership is going to build upon those efforts," said Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.
