Yesterday, Fresno Unified provided the Fresno Teachers Association (FTA) with another updated proposal. Included is a three-minute video to highlight our latest offer and discuss our next step -- fact-finding. In previous years, when we have engaged in the fact-finding process, we have been able to reach an agreement without a work stoppage.
The district is fully committed to the state-led fact-finding process and will exercise it with great fidelity. We will honor and implement any major recommendations in order to reach an agreement that supports our students and avoids a strike. This morning, I met with FTA and I asked them to join us in the commitment to honor and implement any major recommendations. That being said, we will continue meeting collaboratively to discuss contractual provisions with the intent of resolution as well.
Fact-finding dates are now set for November 6 and 7. Once the hearing occurs, the chair of the state bargaining panel will prepare settlement recommendations, which could take three to four weeks or longer. Again, Fresno Unified remains committed to honoring and implementing any major recommendations that come out of this process and working to reach an agreement in the mutual best interest of all parties.
